Woodpeckers

Woodpeckers  are normally considered a beneficial animal because they help to control pests of trees. Birdwatchers like them  because they often are colored brightly.

Woodpeckers have been known to peck at buildings, siding, metal and/or air conditioners. Woodpeckers peck in order to find food, excavate areas for nesting or attract a mate.

Control and Prevention:

When we control this pest, we usually start by verifying the species involved.  Next, we usually survey the property for signs of activity and damage.

Control is often achieved by simply closing off the openings with hardware cloth and then placing scare devices around the areas of activity.  We do not provide or recommend any techniques involving shooting or trapping this animal!
